Picardie is situated on the Northern side of France and is one of the 26 regions. Picardie has strong historical and cultural roots and comprises of the departments of Oise, Aisne, Somme and Pas-de-Calais. The economy is dependent on dairy products and beef apart from vegetables, which are cultivated in large farm lands. One of the most impressive sights in Picardie is the Chateau at Compiegne, which was built in the 18th century. Built by Louis XV, the chief architect is Angel-Jacques Gabriel.
