Hérault, the 34th department is situated in southwestern France and has derived its name from the Hérault River. It is fairly close to the Mediterranean coast and hence enjoys a great year round climate. Hérault is quite famous for some of the full-bodied red wines that are bottled here and the oyster beds along the Bassin de Thau coast. Hérault is also close to the town of Sete, which is famous for its fishing port. Further down the coastline lies Le Cap d’Agde and Saint-Guilhem-le-Desert, this is considered to be the most beautiful village in France. Apart from the Hérault River, the town has other rivers too like the Orb, Aube and Vidourle.
